Goodbye ESP! FIFA's mythical rival changes its name and becomes free

Goodbye ESP! FIFA's mythical rival changes its name and becomes free

As a fan of soccer simulation games, I was once a big fan of the Pro Evolution Soccer saga. FIFA always brought up the issue of officialization, but the fun of PES at the time of PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 was indescribable.

I would say that it was since the move to PlayStation 3 that FIFA took the reins as the best-selling game and, despite everything, with higher quality. So much so that after several years of failure, we now know the Pro Evolution Soccer as we know it, has died.

PES 2022 will finally be called eFootball and will be exclusively digital

As you can see from the presentation trailer of what would be PES 2022, the game is now just called eFootball. In addition to the name change, the big news is that it now has only a digital edition and will be free. “We are introducing eFootball, a brand new football simulation platform from the creators of PES and Winning Eleven”, you can read in the description of the video.

Crossplay between platforms will be one of the strengths of eFootball

It will be in the autumn that the title will arrive on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X and S and Xbox One. And best of all will be the crossplay announced across all platforms (even mobile).

The new game engine is Unreal Engine 4, and players will have access to nine teams with whom they can make quick games. Later, players will be able to purchase DLCs with the features they wish to unlock.

Next August, Konami will reveal gameplay examples. More than a new era of football simulation, eFootball also 'kills' the PES brand that fell in love with this genre of games. It remains to be seen if what Electronic Arts will do to combat this strategy in the next FIFA.
