Every year it is said that Apple will return the Touch ID to its iPhones. That was one of the rumors linked to the iPhone 13, but we already knew that this won't happen this year.
Thanks to the new report by Mark Gurman, we learned that the rumors about the return of Touch ID were well founded. The analyst confirms that Apple has tested this technology for the iPhone 13, however, the results fall short of the desired.
In the Power On newsletter , Gurman confirms that the Touch ID was part of the iPhone 13 development process. However, the results obtained are far from satisfying Apple's parameters, so the technology will be absent from these devices.
The technology that Apple users crave is not yet mature
enough to embark on the brand's mobile devices. We know how important this is
for the American company, so it is not surprising that the Touch ID was
discarded.
Touch ID may never return to high-end
iPhone
Mark Gurman points out, incidentally, that fingerprint
sensors built into the screen may never reach the iPhone. The long-term
commitment will continue to be Face ID and its inclusion under the screen of
their smartphones.
As several patents have hinted, Apple is working to hide the sensors essential to Face ID under the iPhone's screen. That's the brand's big goal, not including Touch ID in their most important smartphones.
Gurman reiterates the possibility that the iPhone 14
generation will be the first to debut the Face ID built into the screen. This
will make it possible to remove the controversial notch from these models. The
cheaper models will continue to carry the notch.
Next iPhone SE can also come with
Face ID
Looking now at Apple's entry-level range, the iPhone SE,
Mark Gurman leaves a curious note. Contrary to all rumors, the analyst says
that this model may rely on Face ID technology.
It is important to recall the unanimity, so far, of the
presence of the Touch ID on the iPhone SE 2022, which should have the same
appearance as the current model. However, from the perspective of the Blommberg
analyst, that will not happen.
For the iPhone 13 generation, Mark Gurman reinforces the
introduction of a 120Hz LTPO screen in Pro models. We will also be able to
count on the introduction of Always-on Display in all models.
